Why TrueRecord
Legal transcription is broken. We fixed the parts that matter.
Four problems every firm knows too well, and what we do differently.
| The problem | The usual experience | With TrueRecord |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Days to weeks stuck in a human typing queue, and you pay a premium to jump it. | Fully automated. Drafts back in hours, at any volume, with no queue to wait behind. |
| Cost | Opaque per-page minimums, surprise rush fees, quotes you can't predict. | Transparent per-minute pricing at a fraction of the cost, with no minimums. |
| Trust | Raw AI mishears names, drops words and invents text, with nobody accountable. | Evidence-grade: verbatim, speaker-attributed, confidence-flagged, and certified on request. |
| Privacy | Sensitive recordings routinely sent offshore to cut costs, a real confidentiality risk. | Processed and stored entirely in Australia. Never offshored, ever. |
Faster, cheaper, more accurate, and it never leaves the country. That's the no-brainer.
How it works
From recording to court-ready in three steps
Upload any recording
Drop in the file or send us the disc, whether it's hearing audio, a police interview ROI or a recorded mediation. We handle the awkward formats, including FTR exports.
AI transcribes & formats
Speech-to-text with speaker attribution, verbatim mode and legal layout: page and line structure, timestamps, and confidence flags on anything unclear.
Reviewed & certified on request
Take the AI draft, add human review for evidentiary matters, or a certified copy where the matter demands it. You choose the tier per job.
Use cases
Built for the matters you actually run
Court & hearing audio
Transcripts of proceedings, directions and mentions, formatted to the standard the court expects.
Police interview ROIs
Hours of recorded interviews per brief, transcribed and indexed so you find the moment that matters fast.
Tribunal matters
NCAT, FWC, VCAT and more, for when the tribunal won't supply a transcript and you need your own record.
Depositions & mediations
Examinations under oath, mediations and arbitrations, with a clean, citable record for the file.
Pricing
Transparent rates. Pick a tier per job.
No opaque page minimums, no week-long queue you pay a premium to skip. Choose accuracy and turnaround to suit the matter.
| Tier | What you get | Turnaround | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI draft | Verbatim, speaker-attributed, court-formatted, confidence-flagged | Same day | from $1.20 / recorded min |
| AI + human review | Draft checked and corrected by a reviewer against the audio | 48 hours | from $2.50 / recorded min |
| Certified transcript | Reviewed and certified for evidentiary use | 3 to 5 days | from $4.50 / recorded min |
| Rush | Priority handling on any tier above | 24 hours | +50% |
Example: a typical 3-hour police interview comes to from $216 as a reviewed draft. All prices ex GST and indicative; we'll confirm on your quote. (Prefer per-page? Just ask and we'll quote it either way.)
Why trust an AI transcript?
Because we don't hide where AI ends.
You've probably seen raw AI transcription fail. Here's how we make it safe to rely on.
- Confidence flags on every transcript. Anything the model isn't sure of is marked, so a reviewer's eye goes straight to it. Nothing is silently guessed.
- A human review path. For evidentiary matters a reviewer corrects the draft against the audio, and a certified copy is available where the matter requires it.
- Your data stays yours. Files are deleted within 30 days or on request, and we never train models on your recordings.
- It never leaves Australia. Audio and transcripts are processed and stored entirely onshore, never sent offshore. It's the clean way to meet your confidentiality and Privacy Act obligations.
What audio formats can I send?
MP3, M4A, WAV and OGG upload directly. Have an FTR recording or a .trm file, a disc or a USB? Get in touch and we'll handle the conversion for you.
How accurate is it, really?
Accuracy depends on the audio. For clean recordings the AI draft is excellent out of the box. For difficult audio (crosstalk, accents, poor mics) the confidence flags show you exactly where to look, and the human-review tier corrects it against the recording.
Can I get a certified transcript?
Yes. Certification is available on request as a per-job tier, including for matters where a certified record is required.
Where is my audio processed and stored?
Entirely in Australia. Your recordings are transcribed and stored on Australian infrastructure and are never sent offshore. That keeps you on the right side of your confidentiality duties and the Privacy Act's cross-border rules.
What happens to my recording and data?
Recordings are processed securely, deleted within 30 days or on request, and never used to train models. See our privacy page.
How do you invoice?
Per job, ex GST, with a quote confirmed up front. Standard payment terms for firms and chambers.
